Description

DC's heavyweight super-hero team graduated to their own title, with this 11/60 Justice League of America #1 issue. A three-issue tryout in the pages of DC's The Brave and the Bold anthology series proved this powerful squad a winning team, and a big hit with readers, leading to the publication of this first JLA issue. The stacked lineup boasts iconic heroes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter J'onn J'onzz. The JLA title quickly became a top seller, compelling rival Marvel Comics to introduce the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. Together these team-oriented titles set the 1960s comic book scene on fire, with many more famous heroes following. Regarded as one of the most important key issues of the Silver Age, this JLA #1 edition stands as a prime want list target for advanced collectors. CGC has encapsulated this reasonably preserved comic with a grade of 3.0, Cream to Off-White Pages. Label notes are "Gardner Fox story, Mike Sekowsky and Bernard Sachs art, Murphy Anderson cover. Origin and 1st appearance of Despero. Letter from Roy Thomas.".
