Lot # 984: 1950s Roberto Clemente Scarce Ballantine Beer Spanish Language Promotional Photograph

Cheers to you, should you be fortunate enough to win this scarce 1950s Spanish language promotional photograph featuring the late, great Roberto Clemente. Sized at 8" x 10", this very handsome photograph takes the field in Ex-Mt+ condition, with strong gloss and a clean surface. The beloved Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer is pictured in an on deck pose, with the caption “Roberto Clemente al bate con cerveza Ballantine”, which translates to “Roberto Clemente at bat with Ballantine beer”. Also appearing on this classic advertising piece, are Clemente’s printed name at bottom, and the famous Ballantine “Purity, Body, Flavor” three-rings logo, on the field at upper left. Enjoying a beer during a ballgame is a natural fit, and this scarce, nicely preserved photograph is an excellent representation of the tradition, with crossover appeal for sports and breweriana enthusiasts.
