Description

One of baseball’s great play-by-play men calls out from the distant past, with this Bob Elson signed and dated index card. Known to fans as “The Ol’ Commander”, Elson called Chicago White Sox games from 1929-1970, with exception to his 1943-1945 wartime service in the Navy. His relaxed manner is said to have influenced a good number of sportscasters. In 1979, Elson received the Hall of Fame’s Frick award, and he has accompanied the crisp signature offered here with the date inscription “Aug 5-79”, for the date of the 1979 induction ceremony.
