Autograph aficionados add a prominent executive to your collection, with the capture of this Gabe Paul single-signed and dated baseball. Talk about working your way up the ladder, Paul threw his hat in the baseball ring at the age of ten and climbed to the top of the game. His first job was shoeshine boy for the Rochester Tribe, starting in 1920. Late in 1951, he succeeded mentor Warren Giles as general manager of the Cincinnati Reds, and went on to serve as general manager, president and part owner of several MLB franchises. His high point came with the New York Yankees, when he assembled the 1970s team that won three consecutive AL pennants, and back-to-back World Series championships in 1977-1978. Paul (d.1998) has applied a satisfying personalized signature on the north panel of this nicely preserved Official League RPB-3 baseball, and he has included the date inscription "1/6/82".
