Golf great Walter Hagen didn't just win big, he did it in style and had fun doing it. Hagen (d.1969) began his career at a time when professional sportsmen often took a back seat to amateurs. His championship play, charismatic nature and work with Wilson on developing equipment did as much or more for the advancement of the game as any other golfer of his day. This majestic 18x20 framed display captures Hagen's triumphant nature in fine fashion. A ("7-8") strength Hagen signature cut at bottom left includes the salutation "Golfingly" and a photo located above the autograph sees the dapper Hagen drinking from the Claret Jug in celebration of winning the British Open Championship. Also incorporated in this rousing ensemble piece are a photo of Hagen on the golf course and an advertisement for Chesterfield Cigarettes. Though the frame shows moderate wear, it remains serviceable and the autograph cut and photos present in excellent condition. Frames included with lots: while we make every effort to protect the frames included in these lots during pre-auction storage and post-auction shipping, we are not responsible for any damage to the frames themselves, and no refunds will be given due to frame damage. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
