Babe Ruth Variation! A riveting collection of (19) 1922 E121 American Caramel Series of 120 singles featuring New York Giants, New York Yankees and a lone St. Louis Cardinal. These 103-year-old candy cards were neatly organized by team and affixed over three pages of a period scrapbook. The black album measures 10-1/4 x 7-1/4" with the pages being secured by sturdy covers, the front reading "Snap Shots" in period gilt lettering. These ballpark heroes were consigned by descendant of original owner, whose written and dated (1918) name are neatly placed on the inside front cover. These big leaguers were then inherited by a World War II MASH doctor before passing it down to his nephew, who consigned it to Huggins and Scott Auctions after 100+ years with the family! Despite varying degrees of creasing and storage wear throughout, the subjects still present admirably. Includes: Page 1: (6 players, all New York Giants) with Causey, Douglas, Gaston, Nehf, Shea, Toney (with Trees); Page 2: (6 players, all New York Giants) with Bancroft (Fielding), Frisch, Groh, G. Kelly, Rawlings, R. Youngs; Page 3: (6 players, all New York Yankees) with Bush, Mays (Corrected Last Name), Rogers, Ruth (Holding Ball, moderately creased), Shawkey and Ward. A lone loose example of Topocer (PR) is also present.
