Description

An historic changing of the guard is recalled, with this Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle dual-signed 1986 Sports Impressions Stars and Stripes plate. With the exception of his WWII military service, DiMaggio manned the centerfield position for the New York Yankees from 1936-1951, with great success. While DiMaggio was irreplaceable, he passed the torch to rookie Mickey Mantle at the end of the 1951 season, and fans couldn't have received better compensation. These brilliant centerfielders are rendered patriotically by artist Robert Stephen Simon on the front of this 4" diameter porcelain plate, which reports in NM-MT condition. Both Hall of Famers have signed in blue, with DiMaggio's signature located above his head, over the flag, while Mantle has signed more prominently over his pinstriped jersey.
