On their way west to their 1910 Spring Training in San Francisco, the Chicago White Sox made a tourist stop for a photo opportunity at the Royal Gorge Hanging Bridge, on February 27th. This memorable moment is captured with these (2) circa 1910-1911 postcards. Being of different sizes, these antique souvenirs depict the same scene, with White Sox players and family gathered around the caboose of a D&RG train. Measuring 6-3/8" x 5-1/2", is an oversized postcard that stacks up as an exciting find. This large format card reports in pleasing VG+ condition, with a bright, clean obverse, and an unused reverse. Printed at top-left on the obverse is "84. Chicago White Sox on Hanging Bridge, Royal Gorge.". Also unused, the standard size 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" postcard rates as FR, and is printed at top-left with "421. Chicago White Sox in The Royal Gorge, Colo.". Some of the more notable 1910 White Sox members are Hall of Famers Ed Walsh and Hugh Duffy, and stars Lena Blackburne, Harry Lord, "Shano" Collins, "Doc" White, and "Chick" Gandil, who was the infamous ringleader of the 1919 "Black Sox".
