Lot # 1790: 1880s-1970 U.S. Coin Balance of Collection Hoard (1,300+) with (300+) Silver Coins

A hefty hoard of coins weighs in, with 1880s-2010s U.S. coin balance of collection bundle (1,300+). This large assortment is topped by (300+) silver coins, including 90% Washington quarters, Mercury/Roosevelt dimes, and 35% silver nickels. Other types figuring in the mix are Indian Head cents, Flying Eagle cents, Liberty Head nickels, Buffalo nickels, and Lincoln cents. Ten folders house eight near-complete, partial, and starter sets, and the total value for this offering is significant.

Featured are:

1916-1945 Mercury Head silver dime partial set (59/78) in a Raymond Popular Album. These coins range GD to VG, with deference to a few lesser. Also housed in this album are (6) bonus Barber silver dimes, with (5) that average GD, and a 1907 example that shows XF details.

1946-1968 Roosevelt dime near-complete set (46/54) in a blue Whitman folder, with (41) 1946-1964 silver dimes, and (5) 1965-1968 clad dimes. Condition ranges FN to BU, with the majority being better grade examples. Also housed in this folder are (17) extra silver dimes.

1883-1912 Liberty Head nickel partial set (20/33) in a blue Whitman folder. Conidition averages GD, with deference to the following coins: 1883 without Cents XF, 1884 VF details, porous, 1912-D AG,

1913-1938 Buffalo nickel starter set (26/64) in a blue Whitman folder. Condition ranges GD to FN+.

1938-1959 Jefferson nickel near-complete set (47/60) in a blue Whitman folder. Condition ranges across the board from GD to BU, and all (11) WWII-era 35% silver coins are present. Several coins are very pleasing, including the 1938 and 1939 Philadelphia examples.

1857-1909 Indian Head and Flying Eagle cent partial set (42/58) in a blue Whitman folder. Condition ranges AG to XF, with one better 1901, and two lesser: 1860 holed, and 1864. The three Flying Eagle coins are attractive VG to FN+ examples.  

1857-1909 Indian Head and Flying Eagle cent partial set (32/58) in a blue Whitman folder. Condition ranges PR to VG, and the two Flying Eagle coins are VG+, GD.

1909-1985 Lincoln Cent near-complete set (185/202) in three blue Whitman folders. Coins in the 1909-1940 folder range GD to XF, coins in the 1941-1973 range FN to BU, with 50% being red or red-brown examples; coins in the 1974-1985 folder average AU to BU. Also housed in the third folder are (10) extra cents, with seven Wheat-back, and three Memorial-back.

1970s-2000s $1 coins (38) average AU to BU, one lesser, with: Eisenhower type (13); Susan B. Anthony type (19), Sacagawea type (3); President type (3).

1950-1976 Washington quarters (67) range XF to BU, with: 1950-1964 silver coins (53); 1965 clad coins (1); 1976 Bicentennial clad coins (13).

1917-1945 Mercury Head silver dimes (38) range 90% GD to FN, 10% lesser.

1946-1990s Roosevelt dimes (135) range in all graded from GD to BU, with: 1946-1964 silver dimes (97); 1965-1990s clad dimes (38).

1956-2011 Jefferson nickels (58) are mostly uncirculated, with twenty gems dated 1958, and just a few in circulated state.  

1880s-1900s Indian Head cents (225) range 90% GD to VF, 10% lesser.

1913-1958 Lincoln Wheat-back cents (22) range in all grades from GD to BU, one lesser, with: 1913-1933 circulated coins (5); 1943 steel uncirculated (3), 1943 steel circulated (14);  

1960s-1970s Lincoln Memorial-back cents (244), all gem uncirculated, with: 1960 4-coin P and D small date/large date sets in presentation cases (2); 1962 coins (88) in three tubes; 1972 PDS bags of fifteen coins (3); 1973 PDS coins bags of fifteen coins (6); loose coins (13).
