Lot # 1864: 1980s-2010s Marvel Hulk Related Comic Collection (451) with Hulk Volume 2 Near-Complete Run

It’s all Hulk all the time, with this 1980s-1990s Hulk related comic book collection of (451). As this collection is packed with mostly Modern Age issues, condition is generally sharp, ranging (90% VF to NM+, 10% lesser). Many different titles are noted, with the biggest attraction being a near-complete run of The Incredible Hulk Volume 2, absent just a single issue. There’s also a decent pile of The Incredible Hulk Volume 1 issues, a good number of comics with Red Hulk covers, multiple complete mini-series, and groups that keep it all in the Hulk Family, with Hulk’s son Skar, and cousin She-Hulk, including a mid-grade copy of the 1980 Savage She-Hulk.

Featured are:

1985-1999 The Incredible Hulk Volume 1 (57) with (53) numbered between #314 and #453 (some duplication), and (4) annuals; plus issue #189 which dates from 1975.

1999-2011 The Incredible Hulk Volume 2 near-complete run (145/146), plus (4) annuals, and (12) duplicates. This volume began in 1999 under the title “Hulk”. Starting with issue #12, it was retitled “The Incredible Hulk Volume 2”, running under this with consecutive numbering through issue #112. After that, the title reverted to pick up where The Incredible Hulk Volume 1 numbering would have been if it hadn’t ended with #474, for issues #600 through #611, when the title was again renamed, this time as “The Incredible Hulks for issues #612-#635. It was the renamed “The Incredible Hercules”, however issues under that title don’t come in to play here. This collection includes all “Hulk” issues #1-#11, all “The Incredible Hulk” issues #12-#111, and #600-#611, and all “The Incredible Hulks” issues from #612-#635, except for number #626, which is absent from this collection.

2011-2012 The Incredible Hulk Volume 3 near-complete run (12/15) with issues #1-#12, plus #7.1. The #1 issue is a sketch variant.

2008-2012 Hulk near-complete run (50/57) with issue numbers: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 55, 57; plus issue #30.1, and (3) variants with #3, #7, #12.

These comic books come from a determined collector, who took many years to round up the original first six Incredible Hulk issues, every issue of Tales To Astonish featuring Hulk as a star character from #60-101, every issue of the 1968-1999 Incredible Hulk Volume 1 run from #102-474, a group of The Defenders including the first eleven issues, and a wide variety of Modern Age Hulk titles. This entire collection can be found in this current auction, including eight CGC graded issues of the Incredible Hulk Volume 1, offered on an individual basis with #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #180, and #181. The other Hulk comics are offered in runs of Incredible Hulk Volume 1, Tales To Astonish, The Defenders, and a bundle of Modern Age titles featuring an Incredible Hulk Volume 2 run, and some Red Hulk issues.
