Representing everyone from legendary icons (such as Ruth, DiMaggio and Mantle) to less reputable figures (like Giambi and Soriano), this lot runs the gamut for pinstriper enthusiasts old and young. Key pieces include: 1949 Babe Ruth Wristwatch: issued by the “Exacta Time Company” with Ruth’s likeness on the facing; 1961 “Home Run Twins” Cap: with a Maris/Mantle patch intact on the front; J. DiMaggio Autograph: July 18, 1941 New York Times page signed in blue marker (“9” strength; full JSA). More on our website.
Babe Ruth 1949 Wristwatch: issued by the “Exacta Time Company” (as evidenced by the engraving on the reverse), this collectible features Ruth’s likeness and facsimile signature on the clock facing, which has numeric identifiers, hour and second hands. While the timepiece is in need of repair, it presents well with all components intact. The original expanding chrome wristband is complete, as well.
1961 “Home Run Twins” Cap: a blue nylon accessory crafted for wear by a youth, this collectible features a 3-1/2 x 2-1/8” satin-like patch with likenesses and facsimile signatures of Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle. The elasticized band remains at the rear and the original tag is secured to the interior leather sweatband. While the front patch is partially detached, this one is a well-prese4rved survivor with all original elements.
Joe DiMaggio Autograph: a July 18, 1941 copy of The New York Times signed by DiMaggio in blue marker (“9” strength) on the page 12 story detailing the end of his 56-game hitting streak. Come with a full photo LOA from JSA.
Additional items include:
Casey Stengel Autograph: a 3-1/2”-diameter New York Mets baseball-shaped promotional souvenir; signed by Stengel in blue ballpoint (“9-10” strength)
