Offered is a remarkably preserved #49 Johnny Sain (Page bio-black back) error card, graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Of the 85 similar examples judged by the service, none fare better (two equals). The error in the Yankee hurler’s portrait was recognized early in the first series production cycle and subsequently pulled from successive runs. Due to the lower print numbers of this error, locating such a high-grade sample is a rare feat. Accurate centering, well-constructed corners and radiant surface hues account for the grade. For the advanced 1952 Topps Baseball connoisseur, this high-grade Sain/Page bio is simply among the best this set has to offer.
