Presented is an amazing artifact not only for the baseball provenance but also for the American historical reference. In 1997, Major League baseball began a campaign to raise racial awareness within the baseball ranks by retiring forever the number 42 for the immortal Jackie Robinson. By 2007, the next step was to play a game between two major league clubs to support and honor the Civil Rights Movement. Originally the game was held late in spring training but in 2009, the game was made a regular season affair between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Sox at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. Offered is a promotional jersey from Beacon of Life Award recipient Frank Robinson. The jersey was obtained by our consignor who has spent countless hours obtaining signatures of many of the greats. Included among the (100+) signatures on the jersey are Dusty Baker, Prince Fielder, Tim Hudson, Tim Lincecum, Mark McGwire, Dirk Nowitski, Tony Perez (twice), Albert Pujols, Hanley Ramirez, Chris Rock, Jamie Foxx, Pete Rose, Alfonso Soriano and Dick Vitale. The magnitude of this labor of love was best honored by the Civil Rights Museum when they displayed this jersey early this year. This rare item is truly one-of-a-kind and there is ample space for anyone who is willing to gather more past and present stars signatures. Comes with a full photo LOA from JSA.
