The grand game of baseball needs more characters like good old “Dizzy” Dean (d.1974). The ace of the 1934 St. Louis Cardinals “Gashouse Gang” followed up his Hall of Fame pitching career with three decades of colorful, homespun broadcasting, entertaining folks through both endeavors. Should you find yourself in need of an example of Dean’s autograph, well then let your bucks stop right here. Dating from the period 1952-1969, this ONL/Giles ball looks to be a gamer, with a green streak on one panel, a blue streak on another, and what appears to be a contact abrasion on third panel. The factory labeling stamps have faded, though the Giles facsimile signature remains visible. Dean has signed on a side panel, and his flamboyant autograph rates as (“7.5”). To paraphrase “Ol’ Diz”, “don’t fail to miss out on all the bidding action", for this great collecting prize. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Opening Bid $400.
