Though the 1942 Doolittle Raid did relatively little damage, it was a major morale booster for U.S. armed forces and citizens on the home front. Conceived by Lt. Colonel Jimmy Doolittle, this mission was the first payback for the attack on Pearl Harbor. Though the damage inflicted was minor, the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo military and industrial targets showed the Japanese their homeland was vulnerable. Snap to attention for this collection of (13) flats signed by Doolittle and his Raiders. Signatures strength ranges ("8" to "10") and the materials are nicely preserved.



Featured are:



10/14/69 Multi-signed Dwight D. Eisenhower first day cover, with (3) autographs: J.H. Doolittle, Mark W. Clark, and B.O. Davis with "Lt. Gen. USAF Ret'd" inscription. All three of these high-ranking officers were eventually promoted to the four-star rank of General, and Davis was the first African-American brigadier general in the USAF.
