What Merlin the Magician did with a wand, Tony Gwynn did with a bat. The best pure hitter of his generation, Gwynn certainly had the magic touch when it came to spraying baseballs around MLB stadiums. Capture a bit of the magic with this Gwynn game-used signature model bat. The San Diego Padres Hall of Famer won three of his eight NL batting crowns during the defined labeling period of 1986-1989 for this Louisville Slugger model C263 bat. An astonishing degree of authentic game use is readily apparent with numerous contact marks, baseball stitch impressions, black ink transfers, and green and red bat rack streaks all around the barrel, plus a heavy coating of pine tar, and a repaired crack on the handle. Gwynn’s uniform number 19, and the bat’s model number C263 are written on both the cupped barrel end and the knob. The accompanying LOA assigns an impressive game use grade of PSA/DNA GU 9.5. Truly an incredible piece of Gwynn’s remarkable legacy, this one is worthy of a fight to the finish. Full LOA from John Taube-PSA/DNA. Opening Bid $1,500.
