While no player use is associated with this genuine 1987 Philadelphia Phillies jersey, there’s no denying the star power of the name on the back. What Steve Carlton did on the mound was display masterful control, while racking up big win totals, and hefty strikeout numbers. What he does here is lend his name to this Rawlings salesman sample jersey. Adjacent to a size “46” factory label inside the collar are three identifier tags that read “Carlton,” “3 Inch Extra Length” and “Set 1 1987." After a decade and a half in Philadelphia, the lanky Carlton parted ways with the Phillies in the midst of the 1986 season, so there was no reason for the team to order up this jersey for the 1987 season. The accompanying LOA explains that it was common practice to repeat sample designs, with the names and numbers of stars players used in the past. Decorated with Carlton’s name plate on the back and his number “32” on the front and back, this pristine powder blue road jersey presents as like-new. For added flair, the left sleeve bears a round Phillies patch with a design that was popularized in the ‘80s. LOA from Phil Wood.

Opening Bid $100.
