A Hall of Famer's hand-me-down hits the block with this 1979-1980 game-used Philadelphia Phillies home jersey. This red pinstriped white jersey was won by pitcher Jim Kaat in 1979, as indicated by a name tag inside the collar, and a "79 1" tag on the left front tail, indicating year, and uniform set number. Also located on the left front tail is a Wilson size "48" factory label. The breast of this zippered jersey is adorned with Kaat's number "39" on the right, and the Phillies "P" logo on the left. On the back, we see the number "39" repeated and a "Bystrom" nameplate has replaced that of former owner Kaat, who made just three appearances for the Phils in '79, before moving on to the New York Yankees. The well-traveled veteran had been in Philadelphia since 1976. As a rookie September call-up in 1980, Marty Bystrom was a key figure in the Phillies quest to nail down a trip to the postseason, which ended with their first ever World Series championship. That magical month saw Bystrom make 6 appearances, including 5 wins in 5 starts. A little math indicates this jersey saw game action just 9 times during the period 1979-1980, though it was obviously worn by both hurlers on days they weren't pitching, and as can be expected, signs of use/wear are light. Phil Wood LOA.

Opening Bid $150.
