Key team members of the 1949 National League champion Brooklyn Dodgers are seen in this Type 1 photograph, from the collection of George Michael. During Jackie Robinson’s 1947-1956 tenure, the Brooklyn Dodgers were undoubtedly the cream of the National League crop. This ten-year period saw the “Boys of Summer” capture 6 NL pennants, and the only World Series championship (1955) from the Dodgers Brooklyn days.

The Dodgers peerless keystone combination of Jackie Robinson and captain “Pee Wee” Reese were captured going through double play drills during Spring Training in this 8" x 10" photo. Abundant provenance is located on the reverse, with an International News Photos credit stamp, a Central Press credit stamp dated 5/27/49, a handwritten editorial note that reads “Pee Wee Reese & Jackie Robinson On Double Play Action Brooklyn Dodgers,” and a George Michael Collection sticker. Condition is pleasing with sharp images and a clean glossy surface, however moderate wear around the perimeter leads to a (VG+) rating.

Opening Bid $200.
