Score the autograph of a long-deceased baseball star with this Thurman Munson signed magazine page. The heart of the 1970s New York Yankees, Munson was a gritty catcher who began his MLB career by earning the AL Rookie of the Year award in 1970. A 2X World Series champion in 1977-1978, Munson also earned the AL MVP award in 1976, and was named an All-Star 7X during the 1970s. Reported as being taken from a magazine dated August 1973, this 8" x 11" photo page shows moderate wear on the top and bottom borders, which could easily be matted over. Munson has signed ("8") on the dirt area in the foreground, by means of a blue ballpoint pen. Munson's hard-nosed play and clutch hitting made him a real fan favorite and his tragic 1979 death when he crashed his private plane makes his autograph a coveted collectible.
