Huggins and Scott Auctions takes great pleasure in presenting treasures from the estate of Arthur J. “Dutch” Bergman. A halfback for Notre Dame from 1915-1916, and 1919, Bergman went on to a lengthy career as a college football coach, along with shorter stints in basketball and baseball. Held by the Bergman family for more than one hundred years, these ancient relics make their way to the market for the first time in our current auction.

Dig up the Golden Gophers 1929 brain trust, with this Type I Minnesota football team photo. This 5x7 photograph is affixed to a 7x9 cardboard backer. Written across the bottom of the photo, is the identification "Minnesota Coaching Staff 1929". The subjects are head coach Clarence Spears (College HOF), assistant coach "Dutch" Bergman, 1903 first "Little Brown Jug" game Minnesota QB Sig Harris (Jewish HOF), ends coach Eddie Lynch, and 1929 Gophers center George MacKinnon, who went on to serve as a U.S. Attorney, Judge, and Congressman. A couple of horizontal surface cracks near the top, force a Vg rating, however display appeal is ample. Certainly describable as a rare photo, it's possible this Type I print is the only example of this shot still in existence. Comes with an LOA from Bergman's estate.

Opening Bid $100.
