Chicago Cubs ace hurler Charlie Root looks confident and ready for action, in this c.1927-1936 10x14 photo taken by George Burke. One of the great sports photographers of the day, Burke’s photos are prized by modern collectors. Burke’s RDM Studio credit is embossed on the border, at the bottom right corner of this oversized matte print. This crisp, clean sepia-toned photograph is housed in an RDM Studio presentation folder, which is adorned with a Cubs logo on the front, which is the same as the logo seen on Root’s jersey. This logo type positively dates the uniform style to the period 1927-1936. The photo is tucked into mounting slots at the corners, and with deference to bends formed by the tucking, this antique portrait presents in outstanding condition. Opening Bid $150.
