One of the great barnstorming teams of yesteryear is recalled, with this 1922 House of David baseball photograph. A well-known shot, this 8x10 photo is captioned across the top with "House of David Baseball Park, Benton Harbor, Mich. House of David Team in Series with Chicago Union Giants.". A highly regarded team known for its skill and fair play, the HOD squad traveled far and wide, also spreading their beliefs in the process. The HOD team is seen in the field in this photo, and though unconfirmed, the batter is believed to be Cristóbal Torriente, who was known as the "Babe Ruth of Cuba". Though the scene is familiar, this particular 8x10 print was recently discovered after more than 100 years in storage, and is being offered publicly for the first time/ A reverse side N.E.A. Reference Dept. credit stamp is dated 6/23/1922, alongside the written notation "House of David". Despite a 1/2" triangle of surface loss at the top right corner, and creasing at all corners, this antique photo Fr-Gd, still presents handsomely, as a fine candidate for framed display. An historic treasure for picturing the highly regarded HOD team, this photo is also significant as a very early representation of Negro League play. Also present is a postcard Ex+, of the same scene as the photo. LOA from RMY Auctions.

Opening Bid $200.
