A pair of Hall of Famers, and a one-legged coach, make this 1939 Chicago White Sox team-signed baseball a nice prize. After back-to-back 15-win seasons in 1937-1938, and an All-Star Game selection in '38, pitcher Monty Stratton lost a leg to hunting accident. Fitted with a prosthetic leg, he returned as a coach for the Sox in 1939, working with manager Jimmy Dykes, and Hall of Famers Luke Appling, and Ted Lyons. Coated with shellac, this period signed OAL/Harridge baseball hosts a total of (27) blue steel-tip fountain pen autographs, which range ("7" to "9") in potency, including Dykes, Appling, Lyons, and the rare Stratton. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
