Pre-War Minor League Hall of Famer! Long before earning his "home run" moniker with Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics, Maryland native Frank Baker was just another player for the 1908 Reading Pretzels of the Tri-State League. The 22 year-old future Hall of Famer is pictured on the offered postcard featuring (14) members of the squad (also including Shag Shaughnessy). The 3-1/2 x 5-1/2" black-and-white collectible is entirely unmarked and crease-free. The players are arranged over two rows with #5 Baker and #6 Shaughnessy standing next to each other on the back row. Although this antique technically grades (FR) due to a slight tear near the upper middle edge along with a microscopic dot of paper loss, this piece is otherwise crease-free. The reverse is postally unused and aside from white residue along the upper edge is clean.
