Depicting the Niangua Bridge over the Lake of the Ozarks, this Curteich made postcard is postmarked dated 3/6/50, by the Dennison, Ohio post office. In retirement Young lived out his years in his native Tuscarawas County, in east-central Ohio. As one of baseball’s most revered elder statesmen, Young was well-known for fulfilling autograph requests and he did an admirable job with this one, providing a (“9”) strength example for a Birmingham, Michigan fan. A blue ink stain at the top-right corner on the postcard’s back is located well away from Young’s blue ink, steel-tip fountain pen autograph, which is well-suited for framed display.
