Roger Maris made history on 10/6/61 when he hit his 61st home run of the season. It was the New York Yankees final regular-season game, played before a home crowd of 23,154, at Yankee Stadium. Tracy Stallard of the Boston Red Sox delivered the pitch and Maris sent it into the right-field bleachers to set a single-season home run record that stood until 1998. An on-site souvenir from this historic game has now surfaced with this 1961 New York Yankees program. This game-day relic is partially scored with player names and number of at-bats listed, however, the only play result entered is Maris’s fourth-inning blast. The page before the scoring grids is printed with the 1961 World Series schedule, with the Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees named, while the page after the scoring grids is printed with the New York Football Giants 1961 schedule, supporting the fact that this program is from the Yankees regular-season finale. An original period compacting fold, a 1/2” tear on the top edge of the front cover, and moderate staining limit this vintage keepsake to a (VG) rating, though it remains appealing in its own right.

Opening Bid $200.
