Orel Hershiser threw 59 consecutive scoreless innings during the season, earned the 1988 NL Cy Young Award, and was named World Series MVP. The rest of the deep 1988 Los Angeles Dodgers roster made solid contributions and in the end Tommy Lasorda's "Bluebloods" took down the heavy-hitting "Bash Brothers" of the Oakland A's to claim the World Series championship.
