Ambling about the halls of memorabilia shows in the 1980s-1990s, one could readily have obtained the autographs of retired legends Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle. Getting both to sign the same ball may have required attending more than one personal appearance, though finding an already dual-signed example on the after market is not difficult. Raise your game to the top level by nailing down the winning bid for this Williams and Mantle signed period 1950s baseball. Labeled only with "Chicago White Sox" on the reverse sweet spot, this moderately toned ball presents handsomely. A light sheen suggests a thin layer of shellac was applied long ago. Williams has located his signature on the sweet spot, and Mantle has signed on the east panel. Both autographs present as ("7") strength examples, and the labeling stamp lettering retains abundant integrity. While Williams' signature remained consistent in style, Mantle changed his signing style multiple times over the years, and this example is certainly from his early playing days with the New York Yankees, displaying characteristics that are consistent with circa 1954-1956 known examples. Seldom will you have the chance to score a ball signed by this pair of all-time greats, while both were actively blasting baseballs out of packed stadiums. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Opening Bid $500.
