From the short list of baseball's most memorable games, comes this dual-signed 1956 World Series Game 5 ticket stub. Since the World Series was first contested in 1903, there has been exactly one perfect game thrown in the history of Major League Baseball's main stage event, and here we have the perfect souvenir of the occasion. The venue was Yankee Stadium, and the date was 10/8/56, when Don Larsen took the hill for the New York Yankees in a one o'clock game against crosstown rivals, the Brooklyn Dodgers. Larsen was magnificent that day, notching seven strikeouts, while preventing any of the Dodgers from getting on base. Though the Yankees scored single runs in the 4th and 6th innings, slugger Mickey Mantle provided all the offense Larsen would need, with his fourth-inning homer. Mantle also contributed the day's key defensive play, tracking down a liner hit by Gil Hodges, into Yankee Stadium's left-center "Death Valley". Larsen is joined in the signing of the offered ticket stub, by battery mate "Yogi" Berra, who leaped into Larsen's arms after the final out, making for one of the most iconic sports images ever. Both autographs are bold ("9.5") strength blue fiber-tip marker applications, and though the stub technically rates as (FR-GD), it still presents handsomely. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Opening Bid $150.
