Make a grab for a grid iron great! Up for the grabbing, is an Earle "Greasy" Neale signed index card. Located on the lined side of a 3x5, Neale's personalized, blue ballpoint signature rates as an 8-9 example. A bit of foxing is noted near the right edge, well away from this prized Pro Football Hall of Famer's autograph. Neale's singular resume is astonishing. As a pro football player, he won Ohio League championships with the Canton Bulldogs in 1917, and the Dayton Triangles in 1918. In 1919, he won the World Series with the Cincinnati Reds, against the Chicago "Black Sox". He coached the Washington & Jefferson Presidents to a 0-0 tie against California at the Rose Bowl, on 1/2/1922, and for good measure he coached the Philadelphia Eagles to three consecutive first place finishes from 1947-1949, and won back-to-back NFL championships in 1948-1949. In addition to playing and coaching football at both the college and pro levels, Neale served considerable stints as a college basketball and baseball coach, and he is also enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame, and the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame. Neale's departure in 1973, makes his autograph a fairly tough and greatly prized acquisition. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
