A basketball player in his youth, Sandy Koufax left his Brooklyn home in 1953, to study architecture at the University of Cincinnati. Coach Ed Jucker recruited him for the freshman basketball team as a walk-on, and got Koufax a scholarship. Koufax paid Jucker back by averaging 9.7 points per game in his only season at Cincinnati. In the Spring of 1954, Koufax also made the freshman baseball team, and then played sandlot ball back at home that Summer, when he was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers.

See Koufax as a scholar-athlete, when you bring home this 1954 University of Cincinnati yearbook. Reported as having been obtained from Jucker's widow, this well-preserved book hits the auction block in very handsome Nm+ condition. Koufax is pictured with the freshman basketball team on page 277, along with coach Jucker, who made history when he led the Bearcats to back-to-back NCAA Basketball national championships in 1961 and 1962, while narrowly missing a third straight championship in 1963, by a single bucket. Koufax is also pictured with the freshman baseball team on page 301.

Opening Bid $200.
