At the heart of the New York Yankees famed “Murderer’s Row” lineup, were “Babe” Ruth, and Lou Gehrig. A dream for devoted fans, these renowned sluggers were pinstriped nightmares for opposing teams, and their followers. Dream big, with this Ruth and Gehrig dual-signed baseball. Toned to a walnut shade, this ancient orb has a light sheen, indicating a long-ago application of shellac. Though the factory labeling stamps are completely faded, the ball’s red and blue stitching suggests it was manufactured prior to 1934. Ruth’s autograph is favorably located on the preferred sweet spot, and Gehrig’s resides on the north panel. Both black ink, steel-tip fountain pen signatures are moderately affected by surface abrasions, limiting their strength ratings to (“5”) for each autograph. The ink is still fairly bold, and were it not for the abrasions, both signatures would rate a good bit higher. Noted on the south panel, is writing that appears to be a date, possibly “May 3, 27”, a day that saw the Yankees defeat the Washington Senators by a score of 6-4, during one of the most glorious seasons in baseball's long history.
