After Alaska and Hawaii joined the Union, Old Glory made its new stellar debut. This Capitol-flown example measures 5 feet by 8 feet and is extremely well-preserved with bold, bright hues, minimal age toning and intact original ropes. The accompanying 7/5/60 letter on "Architect of the Capitol" stationery is signed by architect J. George Stewart and reads, "My dear Congressman [Melvin] Price: This is to certify that the enclosed flag was flown over the Capitol of the United States on July 4, 1960, the day the 50-star flag became the official flag of our Country." An onion-skin copy of the letter is also included, along with a Dettra Flag COA, Dettra's "Our National Flag" info pamphlet, and the original "Flag of the United States of America" manila envelope that all of the paperwork came in.
