The race for space started heating up in the late 1950s and by the time JFK took office in 1961, the public was space crazed. Relive the age of Sputnik, Telstar and Mercury Mission rocket launches from the Florida Coast, with this fantastic 1950s-1960s Space King bobble head bank. Looking like a sort of Jolly Green Santa Claus riding the stars, this odd little fellow radiates display appeal. This fantastic piece stands 8" tall with a 4" diameter base, that still bears the original "Lego, Made in Japan" red foil sticker on the underside. Boasting a highly stylized design including raised "Space King" lettering on the front, this out of this world collectible must be described as incredible. This scarce piece shows full paint, nice gloss and nary a trace of wear, to earn a solid (NM+) rating, with deference to the rubber coin chamber stopper being absent from the underside. Outfitted with a space helmet right out of a '50s Sci-Fi flick, this Space King figure holds a communication device in his left hand with an extending brass wire antenna. Upon close examination, even the head opening and coin slots are in excellent condition, making this vintage nodder a model of display-worthiness.
