From a Washington DC news producer’s collection comes this treasure chest of personally obtained items. This diverse assortment covers a lot of ground, with articles from presidential campaigns, conventions, inaugurations and other political items; rock music concerts, entertainer and celebrity signed photos; historic events; sports; and space exploration including (2) astronaut signed books. This far flung accumulation runs the full gamut in condition, from like-new to well worn, with:

 

Space Exploration: (2) astronaut signed hardcover books with dust jackets, both in like-new condition, with: 1994 “Lost Moon” by Jim Lovell & Jeffrey Kluger, subtitled “The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13”, signed and personalized on the title page by Jim Lovell (“9”) who was the commander of the Apollo 13 mission which suffered a disaster in space. This mission and the heroic recovery made by the crew and NASA was the focus of the 1995 blockbuster film “Apollo 13” starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon and Tom Paxton, which was adapted from this book; 1999 first edition “The Last Man on the Moon” by Eugene Cernan and Don Davis, twice-signed by the last man to set foot on the Moon. Eugene Cernan who has provided a cursive script signature at top with “Apollo XVII” inscription and a personalized note and signature hand-printed in capital letters; auction LOA from JSA for both books; (2) pins: 1970 Apollo 13 press credential type with “ABC News” (EX); and 1988 STS-26 Discovery Shuttle with “Safe Return to Flight” and the facsimile signatures of astronauts Rick Hauk, Dick Covey, Mike Lounge, David C. Hilmers and “Pinky” Nelson (NM)

6/4/1831 “Theatre Royal, Covent Garden” 7x12 opera handbill framed and matted to overall dimensions of 11x18 for shows of Cinderella, Napoleon Bonaparte and The Gypsy Father, appealing with moderate wear including creasing at top left, a tear at bottom left and staining at bottom; frame is in excellent condition
