Description

Rare signed album page of Basketball Hall of Famers Maurice Stokes and Jack Twyman. Stokes has scripted his name in pencil on a 3.75 x 6 inches piece of lined notebook paper that was removed from a notebook on one edge. His teammate and caregiver, Jack Twyman, has signed the reverse of the page in pencil as well. Stokes was one of the game's greatest players during his brief four-year NBA career (1955-1958) before suffering a serious head injury on the court that left him paralyzed for the remainder of his life (he died in 1970 at the age of 36). Twyman became his legal guardian and caregiver for the remainder of Stokes' life. Twyman was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1983 with Stokes joining him posthumously in 2004. The notebook page is in Good condition overall, with light staining present and affecting part of Stokes last name. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
