Lot # 1911: 1973 Bill Walton The Sporting News Type I Photograph - PSA/DNA

Bill Walton is giving the directions to the hoop in this 1973 The Sporting News Type I photograph. The UCLA Bruins star center is seen pointing skyward, likely calling for an alley-oop lob pass for a dunk against St. Bonaventure. UCLA was in the midst of a marvelous run of ten national basketball championships in twelve seasons, at the time this photograph was taken at Pauley Pavilion on December 22, 1973. A blurb on the reverse side of this 8" x 10" photograph, relates the outcome of the depicted game as a 111-59 win for Walton and Bruins. Also seen on the reverse is a Sporting News Collection Archive hologram sticker. PSA has encapsulated this compelling photograph with an Authentic Type I designation.
