Whether it is the record-shattering 1980 Orange Border Police version from our Spring 2026 auction, which closed at nearly six figures, or the constant rewriting of the record book with every new sale, the demand for early "Iron Man" material is seemingly insatiable. The offered 1980 WBTV Charlotte O's Blue Border #16 Cal Ripken Jr. minor league card is a scarce survivor from an ill-fated ballpark promotion. Purportedly, 1,400 sets were printed for a May 1980 Charlotte O's home date. Unfortunately for attendees, the game was cut short by rain and many sets were ultimately tossed into a dumpster. No need to dive for this future Baltimore Orioles Hall of Famer! The offered portrait is crease-free with only slightly touched corners and bold surface colors, presenting at the apex of its overall evaluation.
