Graded Authentic by SGC due to evidence of trimming and confirmed as pose #456-5. (Big Sam) Thompson, the Hall of Fame slugging outfielder for the Detroit Wolverines is the focus of the offered 1887 N172 Old Judge tobacco card. Despite the noted perimeter modification, this sepia "Strike, ball above bat" pose is crystal clear with wonderful nineteenth century imagery. The blank reverse displays a patch of paper loss along with the written name of the original owner.
