Comic cravers come upon a unique opportunity, by reviewing this 7/63 Marvel Comics Amazing Spider-Man #3 issue. Faced with a coverless comic, a long-ago, youthful owner made the brilliant choice to create his own front piece. As you can see, the result is Marvel-ous. A true labor of love, this original amateur drawing captures the essence of this early ASM issue, with your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man depicted doing battle with one of his archenemies, Doctor Octopus! Relating his origin story, this amazing issue counts as the first appearance of Doc Ock.
Something this cool had to be preserved for posterity, and CGC has graciously verified this make-do cover fronts a genuine example of ASM #3. While CGC has encapsulated this comic in a Universal Grade holder with an NG designation, it is a fairly valuable issue in any state of being. Printed on CGC's label is the notation "Coverless, Paper stapled to cover", which is a reference to a pair of staples added along the spine to secure the replacement cover. Label notes are "Stan Lee story, Steve Ditko cover and art. Origin and 1st appearance of Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius). Human Torch appearance.".
