The Philadelphia Phillies first ever championship is celebrated in high style, with this 1980 World Series champion Phillies team-signed baseball. Founded in 1883, the Phillies franchise and its faithful fans finally tasted glory in 1980, thanks to a deep, talented roster led by Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton and Pete Rose. The Phillies core players Schmidt, Carlton, Greg Luzinski, Larry Bowa, Bob Boone, Garry Maddox and Larry Christenson were together for most of the 1970s. Though the Phillies had some great seasons as leading contenders from 1975-1979, it was the additions of Pete "Charlie Hustle" Rose and fiery manager Dallas Green in 1979, that finally got them over the top.
A total of (25) extremely bold signatures decorate this bright, clean Official Major League baseball, with:
Sweet spot: Dallas Green (manager);
North panel: Larry Christenson, Dickie Noles, Dan Larsen, Warren Brusstar, Kevin Saucier, Manny Trillo, Ruben Amaro (coach);
South panel: Greg Luzinski, Garry Maddox, Del Unser, Ramon Aviles, Mike Schmidt (HOF), Steve Carlton (HOF);
