Recall the height of fame for the M&M Boys, with this Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris display. This three-point ensemble piece is professionally framed and matted to overall dimensions of 21-1/2" x 27-1/2". Taking up most the surface area, is a Life magazine issue dated August 18, 1961. At the time, Mantle and Maris were both hot on the heels of Babe Ruth, as they were famously chasing down Ruth's sacred single-season home run record. Mantle pulled up lame late in the running, while Maris perservered to claim the record, reaching the magical number "61" on the last day of the New York Yankees' regular season. The magazine gets the message across loud and clear, with captions that read "Babe Ruth's Challengers: Mantle and Maris", and " Will Yank Sluggers Smash 60 Homers?". Completing the layout are (2) signed items positioned at bottom of the display, with a Mantle signed cachet postmark dated Feb 14, 1985; and a Maris signed cut with "Best of Luck" salutation. These prized signatures are both neat and distinct, showing off nicely. The magazine is attractive despite moderate wear, and the frame is good to go for immediate display. .
Individual full LOA from James Spence/JSA for each signature.
NOTE: These items are in an acrylic holder and can be removed, safely and without tape marks, from matboard if so desired
