Winter sports enthusiasts find some “big air”, with this circa 1984 Burton Backhill snowboard. Founded by snowboarding pioneer Jake Burton Carpenter in 1977, Burton Snowboards is widely regarded as the premier maker of snowboards. This best-selling, vintage Backhill model was considered top of the line in its day, and it's much sought after by advanced collectors. Graced with iconic mountain peak graphics, bold brand logos, and a handsome wood grain, this 10-1/2” x 52-1/2” board is stamped with “Registration #SC-3321” and the legend “Shaped by the Burton Staff, Handmade in Vermont, U.S.A.”. Wear is relatively minor. The original fins and foot straps are securely attached, in excellent condition, and the leash holes at the nose are clean and structurally sound.A peace sign painted on the underside, likely by a former owner, has faded somewhat but remains readily identifiable. Very impressive overall, this authentic early production board from Burton’s formative years is a fantastic find for snowboarding devotees, blessed with historic significance and tremendous display appeal.
