The King of the Wild Frontier pays a visit Disney style, with the presentation of these (3) 1956 Topps Davy Crockett complete sets. Seeking to fund his first theme park, Walt Disney caught lightning in a bottle with the airing of a Davy Crockett mini-series during the 1954-1955 first season of his Disneyland television show. Presented on ABC, this series was a huge hit that gave rise to a flood of Crockett merchandise, topped by a coonskin cap craze. As ever, Topps was "Johnny on the spot", riding the wave with two series of Davy Crockett trading cards. The first series has orange backs, and the second series has green backs. Both series are represented here, with (2) complete orange back sets (80) each, and (1) complete green back set (80), for a total of (240) mostly better grade cards.
Highlights are (4) PSA graded low population green back cards, each rated NM-MT 8, with: #24A "1 of 11", none higher; #32A "1 of 2", 1 higher; #36A "1 of 9", 2 higher; #77A "1 of 6", 2 higher.
The balance range 70% Ex to Nm, 30% Vg to Vg-Ex.
