Hollywood was making the transition from silent films to talkies, when these (9) 1929 Exhibit Star Stamp postcards were issued. These antique vending machine postcards are formatted with eight photographs per card, emulating postage stamps. Some of the biggest stars of the day are identified in this selection, such as renowned leading men Gary Cooper, William Powell, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., John Barrymore, Ramon Navarro, Warner Baxter, and Adolphe Manjou. Other notables are humorist Will Rogers, comedian Buster Keaton, "King of the Stuntmen" Yakima Canutt, and westerners Johnny Mack Brown, Bob Steele, Ben Corbett, Lane Chandler, and William Desmond. For cards that are nearly one hundred years old, this group is very handsome, ranging Vg to Ex, with corner wear being the only real condition issue. The surfaces are clean, the images are distinct, and the stock is sturdy.
