A dramatic season-long pennant race and a stunning letdown are recalled, with the offering of this 1964 Philadelphia Phillies multi-signed record album. The Fightin' Phils lead the NL from day one, only to suffer an infamous end of season swoon known as the "Phold", that saw them finish one game behind the St. Louis Cardinals. There were plenty of bright spots along the way, including Jim Bunning's perfect game on Father's Day, Johnny Callison's game-winning walk-off homer in the All-Star Game, and the play of star rookies Dick Allen, Rick Wise and Danny Cater. Allen was named the 1964 NL Rookie of the Year, Callison finished second in the NL MVP voting, and determined manager Gene Mauch got solid seasons out of aces Bunning and Chris Short.
Titled "Go! Phillies Go!", the offered album features tracks by Mauch, Allen, Bunning, Callison, Clay Dalrymple, and Dennis Bennett. All (6) of these subjects have signed boldly on the front of the record's cover, over corresponding baseball emblems printed with their names. This late-season souvenir details highlights of the 1964 campaign on the back of the cover. The record disc and paper sleeve report in excellent condition, and though the cover suffers a 60% split on the top edge, it remains attractive with strong colors and plenty of display appeal.
