The title that got the ball rolling for Timely Comics way back in 1939, is represented in fine fashion with this 1/42 Marvel Mystery Comics #27 issue. While this celebrated anthology series began as Marvel Comics, the word Mystery was added to the title beginning with issue #2. Recognized as Timely's first ever publication, this title is greatly prized by advanced collectors. The mesmerizing cover subject for the very first issue of the run, the Human Torch is seen on the front of this issue, coming to the rescue of his sidekick Toro, in a deadly WWII arena. But wait, there's more. Also appearing in this issue, is Smokeworld alien lawman Vision in a battle against Satan, while Ka-Zar makes his final appearance in this title. CGC has assigned this WWII era thriller a grade of 2.0, Slightly Brittle Pages. Label notes are "Ray Gill story, Alex Schomburg cover, Carl Burgos, Bill Everett, Bob Oksner and Ben Thompson art. The Vision battles Satan story. Ka-Zar ends.".
