Art aficionados score big with the acquisition of this original artwork panel for the 1970 Fleer World Series card #20. This panel represents the 1923 World Series, with the New York Yankees versus the New York Giants. This was the Yankees third turn in the Fall Classic, and it resulted in their first ever championship. Featuring artwork by Robert G. Laughlin, this piece depicts the great "Babe" Ruth, centered in "The House that Ruth Built", which was newly opened in 1923. Matted to overall dimensions of 9" x 6-1/2", the artwork is visible in a 4-3/4" x 3-5/8" window. A few alterations were made for the final version, such as changing "Yanks" to "Yankees", adding "World Series" to the dated baseball at top-right, and straightening the titled caption box at lower-right. A moderate crease extends down from the bottom-left corner of the caption inset box, otherwise this original production piece remains highly appealing. The card pictured below is for reference only, and it is not included with this offering.
