Lot # 1315: Muhammad Ali Signed and Date Inscribed 1974 Sports Illustrated “Sportsman of the Year” Issue – JSA LOA

Muhammad Ali makes a dapper appearance with this signed and date inscribed Sports Illustrated magazine. Dated December 23, 1974, this issue is captioned with “Muhammad Ali Sportsman of the Year”. The smiling heavyweight champ is seen in a tuxedo, with a ruffled shirt and a red carnation. Two months prior to this issue hitting the newsstands, Ali beat “Big George” Foreman, to win the WBA, WBC, and The Ring heavyweight titles, which he last owned in 1967. Ali has signed boldly, directly below the caption on the front of this crisp magazine, and he has included the date inscription “11-20-95”.
